Creating your Business Model

There is so much on the internet that one can do and because there is so much , one is left confused and not able to decide on what business one can undertake. Everyone who wants to start a blog wants to start one that has something to do with "make money online". Anyone that wants to start a non blog wants to start an "affiliate website" . What is happening is that we are not really doing what we came online to do but behaving like lemmings ,following blindly to nowhere in particular.

Some weeks back we saw an example how doing what everyone else is doing online can really hurt your journey to online riches. I for one had forgotten the basic principles of any business that one starts. What is interesting is that since we have decided to own our own websites, we have forgotten that we still have to apply the very same principles that anyone opening up a lemonade stand must follow.

The key to finding the best business for you is simple. It does not change whether it is an online business or a mom and pop shop next to you.

Combine the right skills and interests you already pocess and target the right clientele with products that will help them solve their problems cost effectively.

For those who are looking for internet income this is like the process of finding a good niche. Niche has been used so much on the internet ,it is now synonymous to starting a website while in actual fact all it means is that you find a good business for yourself.

Identifying the Perfect Business for You

1. Identify what interests, ideas, skills, and personal attributes you may have. Basically "who are you ?" . I know it’s a philosophy 101 question but I think if you ask your kids ,your spouce, your parents when they are a bit tipsy , you will get all the answers you will ever need.

2. Who are your target clients or audience? Can they afford your services or products ? Does not make sence to sell gucci to people in Somali when you start a www.somali.com . How many are they and would your customer base keep on growing?

3. With your target audience, what are the products that are in demand ? It does not take a genious to know what is in demand, you probably know as you are a client too. You will not be the first person to start a product or a website simply because you could not find what you were looking for anywhere else. If there are 5 billion people in the world, I know at least 10,000 are looking for the same thing you are looking for too.

4. What is your competitive advantage ? What do you have that your competitors do not ? For example, if you wish to start an article writting service and everyone at dp forum is charging 0.01 per word, your competitive advantage is that ,you can at least write in english.

Now that you have spent the whole day thinking about how rich you are going to be because you followed these steps, do not procastinate. It’s so interesting that one of the biggest failures in business is that we have never seen a nike advert. ‘JUST DO IT’ . So much time will be wasted looking for that perfect niche, and you never will be able to start it.
