Essential Joomla Commenting Components
So you have now set up your Joomla site to run as a Joomla Blog. However, you still have to do more modifications to have the essential blogging tools in Joomla. How would you modify Joomla into a blog ? Your solutions will greatly depend on if you are running Joomla 1.5.x the new version or the older 1.0.x Joomla series.
I prefer to stick with Joomla 1.0.x for sites I need set up in a hurry as the components are well tested .However, for sites that will not be up soon, you can use Joomla 1.5.x and learn more about Joomla the hard way.
It is essential to create comments in your blog if you are going to succeed online. If you wish to create effective blog comments , you need to give your Joomla visitors a good Joomla Commenting Tool.It is obvious that the commenting is a big drawback in Joomla and you will need a Joomla comments component in order to make your Joomla site a Blog.

One of the earliest and easiest to use Joomla Comments components. It is easy to configure and comes for use in both versions of Joomla. It allows users to rate comments and has a module to view your comments too .
Rewards great comments .However, I do not use it on my sites as I do not like the way it works on my templates. But for great support and constant improvement, IJoomla Comment is great.
2. mXcomment
This to me is the best Commenting component in Joomla. The developer of this component has done a great job with this Joomla commenting component and the great thing about it is that he is not afraid of improving on it.
The features are too many to write about and you would be well advised to visit his site often to get any changes he has made. For a free Joomla commenting system, it is just amazing. Can be used in both versions of Joomla.
Now for those who are using Joomla 1.5.x ,you should really try yvComment. It is just superb for a new Joomla component. I was really tempted to use it on one of my sites especially after I realized that it has gravatar support. The standout feature is the translation feature. For those who’s Joomla sites are in another language, your comments no longer need to be in english.
Simply the best commenting component in Joomla. I use it in all my sites the only problem being the cost of the component. It is expensive and only recently did they come up with multi user licenses.
If you have a few dollars to spare, get it for your site. You can use and create your own templates to make your comment page as you please. You can totally avoid spam .
I have never seen spam on my site since I started using it. Being Ajax based, the comments appear on the fly. There is a lot more and I would advice a visit to their site.
All in all since the first time I started using Joomla, the Joomla commenting components have been the most improved and at this time pretty much rival WordPress in functionality, spam protection, design and use. The only issue as a Joomla web master would be to try and get the most useful commenting system for your site and not searching for a Joomla Comment Component.
