Joomla or WordPress
One of the things that has become difficult for me to start online web sites is trying to figure out which is the best platform for my online business. As you can see, I am currently using WordPress on this site. However I have come to realize that setting up a web site purely for blogging is not something that I am entirely confident will help me towards my success goals in the long run.
WordPress for blogging has no competition in my mind. It is very easy to work with and you can configure and design it as you please. It has actually been a great experience learning how to change a template, set up pluggins and the like. However, the need to constantly update the site is not my cup of tea. I am also made to rely on adsense and other advertising to moneytize my site.
This is further complicated by the fact that if your site grows large enough, you still are limited to WordPress as a platform and if you need other tools to add on like a forum, a shop etc, you will have to go learn a new software all together.
There is very little time in life and I don’t like the idea of having to go learn new software over time. However when it comes to blogging, WordPress is the best option you have. For this particular site, I will have to stick with WordPress.
Joomla for blogging is not such a good idea. However, there is a new Joomla blogging component that might make it easier but it still does not compare to WordPress. I have tried it on my new community site and so far so good. Joomla for sites that have multiple users and also need other powerful site resources like a shop, forum, chat room etc is a great CMS tool.
Compared to Drupal I found it easy to use and quick to understand. I tried to use Drupal on one of my sites, but it was too difficult for me to understand, though some do like it more than Joomla.
I am currently changing all my other WordPress based web sites to Joomla as I would like to have the choice to make my sites not purely blogs but able to incorporate other tools as the site grows.
My way to success will be the only blog site that I keep as this is just a test to see how well I can do towards creating an income through the Internet.

I found the learning curve with Joomla to be a lot steeper than Wordpress. However, I think that once you get a hang of it, it will be more flexible.
