SEO-The Bloggers Nightmare
It is now impossible for me to go an hour blogging without the name SEO coming up. SEO this, SEO that is the norm for me now. As an online entreprenuer, the word can be just as annoying and confusing as the phrase “I want” from your nagging kids. A day has 24 hours. During this period I have to find a way to write quality articles, find traffic to my blog, eat ,sleep and do the SEO thing.
Readers know that I like complaining about it. However, after finding out that life is too short for SEO optimization I have found I am not alone. The information out there is too confusing for those of us who have done off line businesses. At least in my off line business I know that if I buy something for $5 here and sell it for $10 here , I will make a profit. Search engine optimisation on the other hand is a different baby. I would be glad to know who amongst us can claim to be the ultimate SEO guru.
Will someone somewhere in google land or wherever the page rank owners come from tell us if it is ok to have links to your site? Is it really true that if I have too many links in my blogroll, I will get penalized? Is it true that if I don’t have any links in my blogroll I will be penalized ? Who is this who is penalizing me ? In football it is very easy to know. There is a referee and he tells us all that he is penalizing you because you stepped on someone’s foot. Now why is the SEO field so vague about why anyone is being penalized, rewarded or otherwise.
If I buy links I have been told I will be penalized. But if I use pay per click to buy the links, I will be rewarded greatly for my efforts. Can someone please tell me what the difference is. So do I buy links, or not ? Do I sell links or not ?
Write only original content and you are on your way to success. Really ? If I take a book and re-write it, how original is that ? If I take an article from your blog, post it in an article directory and get 1 million visitors, how original was that ? May be I should stop asking questions before my mind goes crazy. How many articles a day should I write ? I know there are days I hate writing, other days like today, I feel I can write a book.
This SEO thing is the strangest creature I have ever seen. It has no laws, the police are everywhere, and I might just have made it angry by questioning why it should be on this blog.

I have to agree with SEO is a complicated beast. There *are* a few trustworthy sources of information out there but these are few and far between so generally thr best idea is carrying out your own real-world testing to see what results you generate.
As for the link selling – be careful. Google has reduced the PR of numerous sites that sell links so personally I stay away from such things just incase.
