My Top Online Business Keys to Success
My daughter just brought to me her homework where the teacher is asking for the keys to success in business. Personally I think that’s an evil assignment since my daughter is only 12 years old. I am very sure she has never been involved in any business.
I know it’s not kosher to do your kids assignments. So I have an alternative. Instead of me doing her homework, I can write what I think are the top online business keys to success and she can read it in her free time. Hopefully, I have brought up a clever child.
I still remember the first time I started on my online business journey. It was about 3 years ago when blogging was supposed to make you a very rich man very quickly. Of course, a quick Google search on “make money online” will reveal that many of those who were doing it disappeared. Through the years I have realized that the key to success in online business is no different from what you need to succeed online.
I will keep this as simple as I can. My top keys to success are:
- Get an idea,
- Believe in the idea,
- Get the tools to bring the idea to fruition,
- Work until the idea is brought to life,
- Repeat step 1
Ah so you thought I was going to give you another one of those top 10 keys to success? Not this time. Of course it is important to have a good business plan, and probably to have a little money saved up. I have however, learned the hard way that I had better start with myself before I go looking for others to help me.
Get an Idea for your Online Business
Let us be honest, you will not find success in your online business if you do not have an idea. It is all well and good to look for articles to re-write, and keyword tools to figure the best niches. However, I have found that I have found the most success in niches that never existed before.
It is much like the adage “find what you like doing and do it well”. The beauty of the internet is that you are not alone. If you like eating melted ice-cream with Doritos naked as you lick the dog, there is probably someone out there on the net who likes it too. So create something for them.
If the starters of facebook had decided that chatting amongst college friends is just stupid, what would my daughter be doing on weekends?
Believe in your Online Business Idea
You really have to believe that writing one article a day will increase your income. You have to believe that you will find people who will buy an elephant online even though you know nothing about html, wordpress, or internet lingo.
You may look at the proboscis monkey and think he’s ugly and a failure. However, the key to success for him is his long nose which somehow attracts females.
In other words, he believes he has the best nose in the world, what’s wrong with you?
You have to believe that you will find success in your online business. Otherwise, I suggest you stick to the McDonald’s counter.
Get the Best Online Marketing Tools
If a plumber came to my house without a few of his tools and ended up borrowing mine, do you think I would ever call him back?
Then don’t expect any love from the internet if you decide to make a living online without the proper tools. By proper tools I do not mean that you go buy every software that is being hawked online. I mean learning how to market and promote your business.
I have said this before and I will say it again. Internet marketing is all about:
- Find a topic to write about ( find a niche)
- Write a few articles (please research first),
- Get links to the articles
- Put ads on your websites
- Make money
- Repeat
Simple but each of these steps has to be learned. Trust me, its six key steps to online business success but I can assure you, many have failed.
Work With a Winners Attitude
Please stop reading this article and go write one on your blog or get another link to your ecommerce shop, then come back and read it. The keys to success are all in your work ethic and attitude at work.
The biggest reason why online entrepreneurs fail online is “they think and read too much!” Going on twitter is not internet marketing. Reading your email is a waste of your time. Please, go back to your online business success blog or your shop and do something.
It is not true that internet marketing is on auto pilot. Trust me on that. You have to spend time marketing your business and there is no short cut.
Repeat Until You Find Success
Make sure that once of your online ventures is successful, you repeat with another. Do not fall into the trap of doing 10 blogs at the same time. You will lose out every time. I will explain later simple and proven ways where you can build on your online business empire without having to drive yourself crazy.
There you have it. Those are my top online business keys to success. I have to admit, I have yet to get to where I want to. Remember success is relative and what is a sign of success to me might be the worst thing that ever happened to you.
