Your Attitude at Work
When you look at certain businesses, you immediately notice how successful they are. How much product is this company moving? What is the return customer rate? What are their projected profits for this year? But what if you found out that their success was not only because they have good products, but because they have a great business attitude? And what else would you say if you learned that countless businesses fail because of a “bad” attitude? As juvenile as this sounds, businesses can either sink or swim due to their attitude towards customers and other businesses.
While this may sound unorthodox for a business, if you do not have a good attitude towards customers and daily work, your business will actually suffer. Even though this may be surprising, when you truly think about it, the proposal makes since. The fine line between failure and success is attitude, and with a negative one, customers will not want to buy from you and other businesses won’t work with you. But how do you know if you have a good attitude? There are several foundational rules you must follow to ensure your attitude stays in a good light with customers.
The first of these is to always ensure you professionally help customers. It’s true that many customers can be a hassle, and some of them are plain rude themselves. However, when you are working, you are above the “normal” attitudes, and you must uphold yourself to higher standards. If you find that a customer is being difficult, either find a way to resolve the situation calmly, or excuse yourself for several moments to regain control of your thoughts and also to help you come up with a solution to the problem.
All it takes is one bad experience within your business to start a chain reaction with other customers, however, if you ensure your attitude towards customers is positive, you will never have to worry about this instance. But attitude at work does span far beyond interacting with customers and other employees, it has to deal with how you view your entire business. Confidence and Passion are two main attitudes that you must possess in order to have a successful business. With nearly ninety-percent of new businesses failing, you have to have these two attitudes to keep your business above water.
When you have a positive attitude and outlook on your business, this reflects itself to your customers and other business contacts. When you have a positive outlook you can easily move from one problem to another, solving them as you go. While it can be extremely difficult at times to have a positive attitude, when you are able to obtain this attitude all throughout the day, you will be surprised at how productive and well-responded-to to you will be.
Attitude has a larger role in today’s business than what many professionals would like to think. However, when you’re first starting out in this highly-competitive world, you need to have a great product, solid business plan and an outstanding attitude in order to keep your business afloat.

Absolutely! We live in a customer economy and those businesses that don’t adapt and serve their customers will not survive.

Attitude is definitely more than half the battle in the workplace. If you approach things the correct way, it will be done the correct way.
That has been my experience running a small retail/online store in the past… attitude is 90% of it.
I agree that attitude is very important in a business and confidence and passion is required. If we are passionate about something, we can then put all our effort easily and work becomes fun.
