Using Adsense on Your Blog

A popular way to earn money through your blog is through advertisements. One of the most popular ad programs available today is Adsense. Adsense is provided by Google.

Using Adsense is very easy. Adsense automatically matches advertisements with the content of your blog. For example, if your blog is focused on gardening, most of the ads will be for gardening-related sites and products. Because of this very focused, site-relavant advertising system, your readers are much more likely to click on an ad that they see on your blog, unlike older systems that just put up vague and general ads.

There is no charge to sign up for Adsense. You just need to apply. Once your application is approved, you will get the code to put on your site. Google also has a great help area for Adsense which gives you step-by-step instructions on how to set everything up.

Adsense also allows you to filter out advertisements, which is a wonderful option. Imagine if you have a blog that is in direct opposition to that subject’s most popular site. Being able to share your perspective on the subject without having to allow ads that aren’t in agreement with your opinions gives you more control over the sites you support.

You can get paid for your Adsense ads by EFT or by check, whatever you choose. Adsense only pays at the end of the month after you reach $100. For example, if you make enough through Adsense to surpass $100 each month, the payment will be issued the last day of each month. If you don’t meet the $100, the payment will be put off to the following month, then the following month, until $100 is reached. The payment will be issued on the last day of the month in which $100 is reached.

Google has also done a lot of research into what the best location for Adsense ads are. They have developed what they call a “heat map” which shows you how well ads perform on a sample webpage based on where they’re placed. You can use this information to determine where to place ads on your own page. For example, if you have a blog, they have found that ads perform much better when placed between blog posts.

Adsense also has another program called Adsense for Search. When you use Adsense for Search, you put a search box on your site that your readers can use to either search your site only, or your site and the internet. Although the money earned from Adsense for Search is much less than Adsense for Content, if you have an extensive blog, allowing people who visit your blog to search your site can boost readership quite a bit. You do not earn money simply by someone using Adsense for Search on your site. They must click on Adsense ads that show up at the top and bottom of the search results page for you to earn money from Adsense for Search.

Using Adsense and Adsense for Search can be a great way to bring additional revenue to your blog.
